Project for drawing.
I guess red and green are complementary but I hardly came up with the idea to make peppers that colour combo myself. Anyway, I don't think red and purple is anything too special-maybe analogous colour scheme? Contrast of saturation maybe? At any rate I like the big bright colours. I find it cheerful.

quattorze-okay I can't spell this high in french

I was kind of thinking about Toulouse Lautrec and specifically the colouring of the woman in the right hand of his painting when I painted this but it didn't really turn out how I wanted it to. I think maybe it is overall too many cool colours on the face in my own paiting. I find it too look kind of tacky or somthing. In other news though I painted it with the new golden open acrylics and was pleased with them.

While we are on the subject of Toulouse Lautrec, the colours in this painting are swoonworthy. I think I might like that magenta ish colour quite a bit. It's also in one of the Paula Rego paintings in previous post.

Contrast of Temperature.

(I should have done away with the yellow)

Contrast of Extension.

(The non-blue could be a little smaller but I liked those shapes)

I guess I forgot to save contrast of complementaries. Temperature can pretty much double for the same thing.

Bonus prize if you can guess who this is.

I think a lot about things that I don't really understand, or feel that I don't have the capability to understand, concerning colour, music and math. One of the things that I often think about is how we may be able to compare the map of hue waves to maps of waves of musical notes. I cannot find much information on the subject. I think it is something that still needs to be explored.

This site claims that C can be mapped as the colour red as it says that C has the longest wave in colour and in musical notes.

However this site has C mapped out as the colour green. It says that this chart is "completely accurate and non-arbitrary because it is generated by frequency doubling the notes 41 times until we find them in the hertzian band of visible light."

Ugh.

TOO BAD I AM RICH SUPER GENIUS WITH A TEAM OF MORE SUPER GENIUSES AT MY DISPOSABLE.

At any rate this is something I am interested in learning more about but I think I need to understand hertz's and numbers first.

Okay, now I am looking up fibonacci numbers and getting extra confused.

I think I may just try to think about sounds as warm or cool for now. Bye!

I found a really great colour blog today.

www.livelygrey.com

Also, it had a link to this video on apple which reviews some of the things we have been talking about in colour class.
